Founder & Managing Executive

Current assignments include Director of the Institute for Managing Risk at the Manhattanville College School of Business.

For expertise in payments systems and in risk management, Ms. Braun draws on twenty years of experience with the Federal Reserve.  As an officer at the NY Fed, she oversaw systemically important payment systems and worked with banks, clearinghouses, and CCPs to reduce risk in domestic and global payments infrastructures.  She served as secretary for the Fed-sponsored, industry-chaired Payments Risk Committee and Tri-party Repo Infrastructure Reform Task Force.  Previously, for the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors, she managed retail payment policies, oversaw Reserve Bank ACH and check operations, and worked to remove regulatory barriers to electronic payments innovation, including Check21.  She was a key on-the-spot manager for Y2K planning, 9/11 payment services recovery, and Dodd-Frank reforms.  Before joining the Fed, Ms. Braun directed treasury services for midsized and start-up companies and was an officer at the Chase Manhattan Bank.

Ms. Braun earned a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University.   Her publications address risk and innovation in emerging payments, ACH fraud, corporate payment priorities, workers’ remittances, and low-value wire transfers.  Ms. Braun is a current member of the Fairfield County Association of Financial Professionals and a former member of TMANY and the Greater Washington Area NCCMA.
